CONNETIONS IN EAST AFRICAN ART

08.09.2020

For the exhibition “Michael Armitage. Paradise Edict” we gave 42 artworks by East African artists as a loan to the Haus der Kunst in Munich.

The artworks illustrate the connections between Michael Armitage and other East Africa artists and include sculptures by the Makonde, four works by Sane Wadu, two oil paintings by Elimo Njau, a linocut by Meek Gichugu and 31 works by Jak Katarikawe.

Here you can see Jak Katarikawe: Bush Boy, Sane Wadu: Blind Thinker, Elimo Njau: Dream Landscape and Jak Katarikawe: The bull is not happy at Christmas; each from the collection of the Weltkulturen Museum.
