Dr Kim Doohan, Leah Umbagai and Leonie Cheinmora

Leah Umbagai, Dr. Kim Doohan and Lea Cheinmora visited the Weltkulturen Museum between 2015 and 2017, representing the Worrorra, Ngarinyin and Wunumbal. They examined the bark paintings, which were collected in the Kimberley region, Australia 1938/39 by Helmut Petri on behalf of the Frobenius Institute. Today the bark paintings are part of the Weltkulturen Museum's collection.

Leah Umbagai is a member of the Kimberley Worrora. The Mowanjum Aboriginal Art & Culture Centre which works for the preservation of the Aboriginal cultural heritage in the region.

A cooperation with the Frobenius Institute for Research in Cultural Anthropology is intended: „The German Ethnographic Expeditions to the Kimberley, Northwest Australia. A Collaborative Assessment of Research History, the Interpretation of Australian Aboriginal Heritage and Digital Repatriation”
