A PORTRAIT CONCERT

Contemporary Indonesian music for the kadedek mouth organ: a portrait concert. with Nursalim Yadi Anugerah (composer and multi-instrumentalist)

The works by Nursalim Yadi Anugerah from West Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia, are sound experiments that explore cultural practices, the knowledge and cosmologies of Indigenous peoples, and the intertwining of socio-cultural and ecological issues on Kalimantan. In this portrait concert, Anugerah chiefly presents his works for the kadedek mouth organ from West Kalimantan, which can also be seen in the exhibition. For several years now, Anugerah has been working with Bunau, the last kadedek instrument maker (see also the tour plus concert on 19 May).
