The sound of the bark beater chiefly characterises the soundscape of the Pacific Islands. Bark beaters from Polynesia and Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The sound of the bullroarer often represents the voices of ancestors or spirits. Bullroarers from the Amazon region and New Guinea.

What does a museum sound like? Not only do the objects in the Weltkulturen Museum’s Hands On collection look different to each other, they also sound different! In this workshop we will investigate the loud and quiet sounds that things make and create a small sound collage.
