A summary of the content of the current debate is followed by a description of its historical points of reference, such as the evolutionist conception of man and colonial-era collecting, from the perspective of the Weltkulturen Museum. Using examples from the collection of the Weltkulturen Museum, aspects such as repatriation to cultures of origin and the fluid boundaries between human remains and artifacts are discussed.

The lecture will take place as part of the Jour Fixe of the Friends of the Weltkulturen Museum, which is open to guests for the occasion.

The number of participants is limited to 20.
