FILM SERIES: AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL CINEMA
To coincide with the exhibition "Country bin Pull’em" on view at the Weltkulturen Museum through August 31, the Deutsches Filmmuseum Frankfurt cinema is dedicating a special film series in July and August to Indigenous Australian cinema. The selected films offer powerful insights into the complex and often painful history of Australia’s Indigenous communities — from the impacts of settler colonialism and the fight for self-determination to the contemporary reclaiming of cultural storytelling traditions. At the heart of the series is the legendary actor David Gulpilil from Arnhem Land in northern Australia, a celebrated figure who brought global recognition to Indigenous Australian film.
