Comic drawing workshop
With comic artist Katharina Hantke

The exhibition itself becomes a narrative environment. Together we visit the exhibition space, draw inspiration from the architecture, objects and atmospheres, and use this to develop comics. Through movement in the space, collaborative drawing, and playful storytelling formats—such as passing on comic images (panels)—we will create one-page comic stories, 4-panel short comics, and zines. The focus will be on character development, heroes and heroines, and collective brainstorming. No prior knowledge is required.

Kemetic Yoga in the exhibition
With yoga teacher Tasha Quaynor

We immerse ourselves in Kemetic Yoga (Smai Tawi), an ancient, holistic, Afrocentric form of yoga from the Nile Valley. This practice combines physical exercises, deep breathing and meditation. Together we learn to reduce stress, build physical strength and achieve mental clarity.

Kemetic Yoga offers all practitioners a way to connect with inner peace and holistically enhance well-being. Regardless of previous experience, you are welcome to discover the transformative power of this movement.

Suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners.
Please bring a yoga mat.

Layering and Layouts in Comics

Inspired by the exhibition SHEROES the workshop provides an introduction to the technique of layering — an artistic strategy in which multiple visual, narrative, and temporal layers are placed on top of each other. Inspired by the comics in the exhibition, we develop own (comic) artworks.

Talking about everything with comics? – Workshop in cooperation with vhs Frankfurt

With cultural mediator Leonie Männich

Together we will look at the exhibition ‘SHEROES. Comic Art from Africa’. The focus will be on topics such as colonialism and power in connection with knowledge, historiography and memory culture. We will note down observations and questions related to the works in the exhibition, which will be studied in more depth in a group discussion.

The workshop will be in German language.
