OPENING: SHIPIBO POT STORIES

OPENING: SHIPIBO POT STORIES. PATTERNS OF THE UNIVERSE

The spin-off exhibition "Shipibo Pot Stories. Patterns of the Universe" will open at 8 p.m. during the Night of Museums 2023 - we warmly invite you to join us!

In the exhibition, a ceremonial beer pot from the Amazon region of Peru tells about the myths and patterns of the Shipibo. In a collaboration between multimedia artist René Appel and contemporary Shipibo artist Harry Pinedo, the pot is brought to life with the help of digital animation. Using other exhibited objects and their distinctive patterning, the connection to the spiritual Shipibo cosmos is demonstrated.

"Shipibo Pot Stories. Patterns of the Universe" is conceived as an extension of the current exhibition "healing. Living in Balance," which showcases a multi-voiced exploration of healing, transformation and balance. It will be on view at Schaumainkai 37 from May 14 to June 04 2023.

Artist René Appel will be present at the opening. Curator Laura Heidemann will give a brief tour of the exhibition at 21:30 and 22:30.
