    Women as protagonists: A conversation with author Yasmin Sibai

    Moderator: Julia Albrecht, cultural mediator, Weltkulturen Museum

    Yasmin Sibai was born in Hanover, where her family comes from, as well as from Thuringia, Homs and Damascus. She was the front woman of a punk band, worked as an architect and DJ, and moved thirty-two times. She now lives in Frankfurt am Main and writes prose and poetry. In 2023, her debut novel ‘PUNKED’ was published by Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt. In 2024, she received the Thalia Debut Crime Novel Award for it. In 2025, she won the EDIT Essay Prize for her literary essay, ‘Ohne Grenzen kein Feld’ (No Field Without Borders).

    Her eventful biography, which she will discuss at the Weltkulturen Museum, is reflected in her works.

Based on her key publications, communication scientist and artistic director of the Iwalewahaus Prof. Dr. Natasha A. Kelly takes stock of Black feminist movements and opens up perspectives for the future. The evening combines personal insights, scientific analyses and socio-political questions.
