Network for the Re-examination of Collection Items from Colonial Contexts in Hesse
The Weltkulturen Museum is a member of the Network for the Re-examination of Collection Items from Colonial Contexts in Hesse (VASKo for short), which was founded in 2021. Its remit is to actively disseminate the findings of the nationwide ‘three-pronged strategy’ for the cataloguing and digital publication of collection items from colonial contexts at the Hessian state level, as well as to facilitate networking amongst institutions conducting provenance research into colonial contexts and those holding such collections within the present-day federal state of Hesse.
In addition to academic exchange, organising conferences and exhibitions, and publishing works, the members seek to harness synergies in coming to terms with the colonial past of their collections through joint collaborative projects.
